“While we gather here today to discuss and reiterate our commitment to this critical issue, over 3,500 days have passed since the illegal occupation and attempted annexation of the Crimea Peninsula by Russia” – Deputy of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic, Edite Estrela
At the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform, Edite Estrela, Deputy of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic, underscored the importance of maintaining commitment to providing political, financial, humanitarian, and military support to Ukraine. At the same time, Edite Estrela emphasized the necessity of involving other regions, particularly Africa and Latin America, in “the foundational fight for the future of democracy and international law”.
Edite Estrela highlighted that the impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine has global repercussions and stressed the pivotal role of parliamentarians, especially in promoting dialogue and countering the false narratives promoted by Russia. “I urge you, dear colleagues, to not let time weaken our resolve,” the Deputy of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic concluded.
