“Acts of aggression and war must never be tolerated. That is why Denmark stands firmly with Ukraine.” – Mette Frederiksen, Prime Minister of Denmark

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reiterated Denmark’s deepest support for Ukraine’s fight for freedom and emphasized that Crimea is Ukraine. She highlighted that the borders of Ukraine are internationally recognized, and the principle of sovereignty is the foundation of the rule-based international order.

Mette Frederiksen condemned acts of aggression and war, stating that they must never be tolerated. She affirmed that Denmark stands firmly behind Ukraine and supports its fight for freedom, democracy, and justice. She emphasized that Ukraine’s fight is Denmark’s fight.

Denmark has been a significant contributor to Ukraine, providing military support, reconstruction assistance, and humanitarian aid. Since the full-scale Russian invasion, Denmark has committed approximately 1.8 billion euros to Ukraine. To further demonstrate their commitment to Ukraine’s defense, Denmark will donate 19 F-16 aircraft to Ukraine.

Prime Minister Frederiksen highlighted the recent visit of President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to Denmark, expressing her honor in hosting them. She mentioned that President Zelenskyy stood as a symbol of right against wrong in front of the Danish Parliament, where Ukrainian and Danish flags filled the square. Frederiksen emphasized the strong support from the Danish people.

Frederiksen concluded her speech with the words “Slava Ukraini” (Glory to Ukraine) and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support Ukraine in its fight for freedom.
