The Fourth Crimea Platform Summit: Alexander Stubb, President of Finland

“We have convened to support Ukraine. We have convened to reiterate that Crimea is Ukraine”, Alexander Stubb, President of Finland

In his speech, President of Finland Alexander Stubb emphasized that Russia’s illegal attempt to annex Crimea in 2014, as well as its full-scale aggressive war, is a serious violation of international law and that Russia has committed numerous human rights violations.

“Russia’s attacks against the Ukrainian energy infrastructure continue, endangering the very survival of Ukrainian civilians, including children. We also can’t forget the bleak human rights situation of the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians living on the Crimean Peninsula”, President of Finland Alexander Stubb emphasized.

He recalled that the people of Finland have a common compassion for Ukrainians because of their own history. Finland continues to support Ukraine politically, as well as with military, material and humanitarian aid. Alexander Stubb also congratulated Ukraine on the official start of negotiations on membership in the European Union and emphasized Finland’s support for the Ukraine’s Peace formula.
