“For 546 days citizens of Ukraine have bravely resisted Russia’s brutality, they have defied Moscow’s belief that “might makes right”. “For 546 days citizens of Ukraine have bravely resisted Russia’s brutality, they have defied Moscow’s belief that “might makes right”. For that, they deserve not only respect but our continuous support”, – Alexander Schallenberg, Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria.

Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria Alexander Schallenberg began his speech by emphasising that it has been almost 18 months since Russia once again violated the peaceful order of the world with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a sovereign and independent country. He stated that this war has caused an immense amount of destruction and despair.

Minister Schallenberg noted that Austria is at the top of the list of countries that promote the establishment of the tribunal and condemn Russia’s numerous violations of international law.

The Minister also expressed his deep respect for the Ukrainians who have been bravely fighting for their freedom for 546 days.

At the end of his speech, Alexander Schallenberg assured the audience that Austria will not diminish its commitment to an independent, free and prosperous Ukraine and will not forget the issue of Crimea.
