Nariman Dzhelyal’s family managed to visit him in a Russian prison

On the eve of Eid al-Adha, an important Muslim holiday, the family of political prisoner Nariman Dzhelyal was finally reunited after a long and challenging journey. The visit, which took place from June 12 to 15, marked the end of a long period of separation and brought Nariman and his family a brief but precious moment of reunion.

For the first time since Nariman’s arrest, the family met without the physical barriers of prison cells and surveillance. However, Nariman’s health remains a concern. His chronic back pain, deteriorating eyesight, and dental problems require serious attention beyond the capacity of the prison. Despite this, Nariman maintains resilience, unwavering values, and strength, which he draws from the love and support of his family.

Nariman continues to stand up for the principles that led to his imprisonment. His moral and spiritual values allow him to rise above his circumstances and are admired by his family. Despite the censorship, his analytical skills allow him to stay informed and hopeful. He finds solidarity with other political prisoners, forming bonds that strengthen his spirit.

The family’s journey and reunion were made possible by the support of friends and community members. Nariman expresses his gratitude to everyone who helped — those who facilitated the trip, sent messages and gifts, and provided moral support. In a letter received upon their return, Nariman expressed his deep gratitude: “My gray, routine days were lit up with joy for these three days thanks to my family’s visit. Your support has erased the thousands of kilometers that separated us, allowing me to hug my loved ones again. Your unwavering help strengthens my faith in our shared values and fuels my love and gratitude.”
