Permanent Representative Meets with the Rector of Hacı Bayram Veli University
Permanent Representative Olha Kuryshko met with the Rector of Hacı Bayram Veli University, Professor Mehmet Naci Bostancı.
Olha Kuryshko emphasised the importance of developing academic cooperation between Ukrainian and Turkish scholarly institutions, particularly in research related to Ukraine, the history of Crimea, and the Crimean Tatar people.
The Permanent Representative informed the Rector about the work of the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies — an international initiative aimed at fostering the systematic study of Ukraine within the global academic community. She noted that the Coalition places particular focus on Crimean Tatar studies as an integral component of Ukrainian studies. Olha Kuryshko stressed that the launch and active promotion of this initiative, including during the visit of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, to Türkiye, form part of Ukraine’s consistent state policy in the fields of education, science, and humanitarian diplomacy.
The Permanent Representative also drew attention to the challenges in the educational sphere caused by the systematic implementation of Russian propaganda in the temporarily occupied territories. She noted that Russia deliberately exploits educational and cultural spaces, including beyond Ukraine’s borders, as tools for distorting history and justifying the occupation.
The parties also exchanged views on possible areas of further cooperation and agreed to continue their collaboration.
