President Santokhi in his speech highlighted that the Republic of Suriname strongly supports the principle of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. He believes that modern events can help Suriname as well to take part in building the new international safety architecture and promoting democratic values in Suriname too. 

He warned that this war causes a crucial damage at the international level in many aspects, especially from which the developing states are suffering, so the international community must develop and use all its diplomatic means to prevent the further escalation. However, at the same time, Chandrikapersad Santokhi assured President Zelenskyy that Suriname supports Ukraine and advocates territorial integrity of Ukraine.
